Oil & gas companies must responsibly dismantle their offshore infrastructure & clear the seabed once drilling is finished.
The energy companies that have constructed the oil rigs and platforms in our waters should be the ones that remove them when it is time to decommission them. These costs should never fall on taxpayers.
In the Energy Security and Net Zero Select Committee in Parliament, I pressed for answers on how we can ensure that these companies fully and properly decommission their sites.
