In Parliament I pushed for the government to sanction those responsible for targeting pro- democracy Hong Kong campaigners living in the UK.
Hong Kong authorities have issued bounties of HK$1 million (around £100,000) for information leading to the arrest of campaigners who fled to the UK after being accused of breaking Hong Kong’s oppressive national security law, introduced by Beijing.
I urged the government to respond to this ‘act of transnational aggression’ by sanctioning those in Beijing and Hong Kong responsible for issuing these rewards. We must show China we won’t tolerate foreign interference.
